Athens: The final blow to the movement of Greek music back
through file sharing services was a decision of the First Instance Court of
Athens on 16 May 2012 (ar.4658/2012). The Court ordered the Greeks to stop ISP
access addresses ellinadiko.com and music-bazaar.com two addresses and IP
67.159.26.126 and 217.23.143.152 with a penalty EUR 5,000 for each violation.
However, ellinadiko.com was not properly working by that time. This followed the arrest in April of Greek DDL managers with hundreds of thousands of users. The downward spiral of websites allows registered members to download mainly Greek (and foreign) music was rather unexpected, as made reference to type websites Rapidshare, Megaupload etc. where there is sharing in the form of torrent, but as whole files. But, Rapidshare, Megaupload, FileSonic and other file sharing sites either do not exist or are no longer the same.
Typically, these web sites based on their reputation for publishing references to foreign sites where shared files are converted to forums and even online stores to cash in with a (ads) or otherwise (store) the reputation was already gained by their contribution to the movement of pirated material.
The Intellectual Property Organization issued a statement which identifies "catalytic" the judgment of Athens to tackle internet piracy. He stresses that, for the first time in Greece was ordered to take technical measures to prevent unauthorized user access to websites through which trafficked digital works were protected by copyright.
